Local Go club web links can be found at the end of this page.
Where to Play on the Internet.
There is a web site that will teach you how to play Go interactively through your browser. The address is:
http://playgo.to/interactive/welcome.html
If you'd like to practice on a 9x9 board against a computer, David Fotland's IGOWIN program will keep you occupied for a while. It's a free download from this site: http://www.netcom.com/~fotland/igowin.html
To read about the rules of Go in multiple languages, check out the web site at www.telgo.com. The explanation is clear and easy to understand.
When you are ready to take on live players, YAHOO and MSN (MicroSoft Network) have made it easy for you to find competition over the net. To play on YAHOO, visit: http://www.yahoo.com/Recreation/Games/Board_Games/Go/
The MSN Game Zone site is: http://zone.msn.com/msn_home.asp
The registration is free, and there are plenty of beginners at these sites.
For the more serious player, there is the world of Internet Go Servers. To play here, you must download client shareware from designated FTP sites. Refer to YAHOO or the American Go Association home page at http://www.usgo.org/ for more information.
If you learn about any other good Go sites, drop me a line and I'll add it to this page.
