Many modern Wiccans have crescent moons adorning their pentagrams or pentacles. The pentagram is a protective symbol in Wicca, symbolizing the elements of air, fire, water, earth and spirit. Both of these pentagrams show moon designs. The onyx pentacle incorporates waxing and waning crescents.

The second pentacle shows a very simple design representing the full lunar cycle of waxing, full, and waning moon. The 5-point star itself is set within the the circle of the full moon.
