My special interests include treatment of Anxiety, Mindfulness Meditation as applied to psychotherapy, Spirituality, Prayer,  Attention Deficit Disorders, Eating Disorders, Men's Issues, and Couples therapy.  I  have had particular success in working with couples who have had long standing conflicts, but who still care for each other and wish to stay together.

My clients include adolescents, adults, couples, and families.

We may work together in short term therapy, long term psychotherapy, couples therapy, family therapy, group therapy, or spiritual direction.

My practice orientation is an Integrated Psychotherapy combining tested elements from a variety of traditions and disciplines including, but not limited to psychoanalysis, cognitive and behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, and the spiritual traditions of both the west and east.

I received my M.S.S. from Bryn Mawr College in 1972. I graduated from the program in Family Therapy from the Family Institute of Philadelphia in 1975. I was certified in Psychoanalysis and received the Ph.D. in Psychoanalysis from the Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis and Heed University in 1980.  I was certified in group spiritual direction from Shalem in 2002.  I was certified in Brief Psychotherapy from Bryn Mawr College in 2004.  I am currently training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.

From 1971 to 1982 I worked at the Community Mental Health Center at Albert Einstein Hospital, in Philadelphia, where I was Director of the Child and Family Unit from 1976 to 1982. In 1982 I joined ERE Health Systems, a private group practice devoted to the treatment of Eating Disorders, including Bulimia, Anorexia, and Compulsive overeating. I am a counselor for the Counseling Service of the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, Religious Society of Friends. I have been a facilitator for the Alternatives to Violence Program (AVP) of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. I am interested in Spiritual Direction and was a founding member of the Gathering Garden, a center for the spiritual life in Gwynedd, PA.  

I am able to help with insurance reimbursement from some medical insurance plans, and I am a panel member for most HMO and PPOs. Fees are determined on a sliding scale. Because of issues related to confidentiality and other related issues I will gladly see clients for a reduced fee if they decide to not utilize their medical insurance.
