| Front Tower Lights
- I like those lights and the effects on the front of the tower, but what's involved in
getting them attached to the model? |
The Dual-LED assembly comes preformed. All you need to do is
slide it over the front cross bar of the tower and then glue the assembly to the backside
of the horizontal and vertical tower supports! |
| Front Tower Lights
- How do the two front LEDs get connected to the lighting board? |
Very simply. You slide the two free ends of the dual-LED
assembly up into the pre-drilled water tower bottom and twist the wires to their color
coded counterpart wires from the printed circuit board. |
| Lights vs. LEDs
- In various publications, I see the term LED used sometimes and at other times
lights. What is the difference and are there any advantages to one over the other? |
A light bulb is like you already know it in your house. It
burns out after a while and can be damaged when shaken or dropped. LEDs (which we
use for lights in our SuperKits) are different. They will last almost forever, don't
generate heat and are much more resistant to shock. They also use a lot less power
than bulbs. |
| Lights vs. LEDs
- If there are so many advantages to LEDs, why doesn't everybody use them instead of light
bulbs? |
Because it isn't an easy thing to make a LED behave realistically.
Many LED based lighting effects look toy-like. Our lighting effects were
painstakingly designed to mimic the natural lights seen on towers while offering all of
the advantages of LEDs over ordinary light bulbs. |
| Sealed Circuit Board
- I notice that your printed circuit board comes in a pre-sealed compound. What is
its purpose? |
RealEyez lighting effects are pre-sealed to protect them against
accidental shorting and to provide a high degree of moisture resistance. Our
circuits will work for many years and provide trouble free operation in the moistest of
conditions, even outside! |
| Circuit board inside the tower
- I notice the lighting effects board is located inside the tower tank itself. What
advantages does this provide over external after market lighting kits? |
By housing the electronics inside the tower, you now have a
self-contained tower that is portable. You can use it for portable layouts or even a
desktop (for the office or den) without worrying about damaging or reconnecting anything.
Just provide 12VDC to the tower. Even an old HO power pack will do. |
| Power requirements
- I am not sure about how much power is needed for one of your SuperKits. What do I
have to look for in terms of power? |
You can use almost any 12VDC source. (typical of any HO train power
pack). The source should be independent of the train but the power used by our kits
is extremely very low so just about any size supply will do. |
