The Maryland Company, Wayne's Light Infantry Corps Inc. is historical reenactment
unit, recreating aspects of the 18th Century and the American Revolutionary War
from the perspective of the Continental army. Specifically, we attempt to
portray the life of a small unit of the Maryland Line in the Continental army.
The Maryland Company, Wayne's Light Infantry Corps was recreated to pay tribute
to the 150 men of the Maryland Line who served under General 'Mad Anthony' Wayne
in the year 1779 of the Revolutionary War.
The Company was formed in 1976. As in any organization, Wayne's Light has evolved
throught he impact of time and the personality of its members. However, we
have maintained strict adherence to our original goals; namely, to educate the
public through the "living history concept" about the American colonial period,
and to remain dedicated to authenticity in our portrayal of 18th century life.
Wayne's encourages family involvement in its demostrations of 18th century
camplife. The women of the unit are full-fledged parntners in all phases of
unit activities. The presense of member's children contributes to the
authenticity of the camp
Maryland Comapny, Wayne's Light Infantry Corps is composed of members from all
walks of life. Their common bond is the interest in America's colonial heritage,
and the pride and excitement they share in the patriot fervor that created our
independence.
Unit Membership.....
New members are very welcome in Maryland Company, Wayne's Light because they
guarantee the perpetuation of the unit and its ideals. To this end, efforts
are made to assist new members in obtaining their 18th century colonial
equipment and clothing, and to fully participate in unit events.
