Lenuta Ciulei

Lenuta Ciulei Atanasiu

Acclaimed in 22 countries on 4 continents, the Romanian-born violinist Lenuta Ciulei started her brilliant career at the age of 9, appearing live on Romanian National TV. Her distinctive and imaginative style comes on a unique combination of great violinistic tradition of the renowned artists and pedagogues George Enescu, David Oistrach, Eugene Ysaye. She began playing violin at the age of 5 and studied with Stefan Gheorghiu, Andre Gertler, Raphael Druian, Ruggiero Ricci.

Mrs. Ciulei is first prize winner of the famous N. Paganini (Genoa, Italy) International Violin Competition, as well as T. Varga (Sion, Switzerland) and M. Abbado (Sondrio, Italy) International Violin Competitions, and played at many prestigious festivals: Bayreuth Festival(Germany), Marlboro Music Festival, Carmel Bach Festival, "George Enescu" International Festival (Bucharest), Norfolk Chamber Music Festival (Conn.), Grand Teton Music Festival.

For her exceptional career she was rewarded with The 1994 Pennsylvania Council Of The Arts Fellowship Solo Recitalist Award and in 1996 with The Cultural Order "Rio Grande" by the President of The Federal Republic of Brazil.

She performed in front of U.N. Great Assembly at U.N. Palais in Geneva, in Bartok Memorial House in Budapest, in Great Hall of "Tchaikovsky Conservatory" in Moscow, in Lincoln Center's "Alice Tully" Hall, in Madrid for Royal Spanish Family where the El Pais newspaper named her "one of the greatest European violinists of the younger generation" and in other big cities and capitals in Europe, Asia, North and South America as soloist with major orchestras.

Praised by public and critics alike for the very fine balance between her perfect technique, supreme accuracy, emotion and imagination, she was named "an angel singing", "passionately abandoning herself to music." Lenuta Ciulei has an unusual versatile repertoire which features masterworks from early Baroque to the latest contemporary music. She is an ideal recitalist and chamber music performer.

Lenuta Ciulei is extensively touring, and appeared in Radio and TV broadcasts in U.S.A., Europe, Asia, Central and South America. She is giving master classes at universities, international festivals and orchestras in United States, Venezuela and Europe.

 

George Atanasiu

George Atanasiu

Cellist

The Romanian-born cellist has played concerts with major orchestras, recitals and chamber music in Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Romania and U.S.A. Fiery temperament and superb musicianship make him an ideal chamber music recitalist.

A graduate of the Bucharest Music Academy he studied with Serafim Antropov, Petre Lefterescu, Uzi Wiesel and Laszlo Meszo. He won top prizes in Romanian National Music Festivals and in Florence Vittorio Gui International Chamber Music Competition.

Mr. Atanasiu has participated in numerous prestigious music festivals like Bayreuth Youth Festival, International Music Seminar Weimar, Hitzacker Chamber Music Academy and Carmel Bach Festival.

Mr. Atanasiu teaches cello at Rowan University of New Jersey and currently is associate conductor for Main Line Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. He has given Master Classes at Trenton State College, Eastern Nazarene College and in Romania.

 

Hanni Schmid Wyss

Hanni Schmid-Wyss

The world renowned Swiss pianist Hanni Schmyd-Wyss has performed as a soloist with major orchestras in the United States, Switzerland, Holland and Romania. She has recorded and appeared on TV and radiobroadcasts in Italy, Germany, Austria, the United States, Switzerland, Holland and Romania. She is acclaimed for her "masterful performance" in recitals and chamber music. Ms. Schmid Wyss began taking lessons at the age of 5 and graduated from the Zurich Music Academy and the Staatliche Hochschule fur Musik in Cologne, Germany. Her teachers include Heinz Schroter, Geza Anda and Guido Agosti.

She is the prizewinner of many International Piano Competitions, among others, a Medal Laureate at the Geneva International Piano Competition. Hanni Schmid Wyss' repertoire ranges from early Baroque to the late 20th Century's contemporary music. Several composers have dedicated concertos and piano works to her, which she premiered.

She tours extensively, gives Master Classes, and has an outstanding reputation for her lecture recitals, which have been praised as "comments and interpretation in complete harmony." Among her most successful themes are:

·         "Switzerland, an inspiration upon both the famous and lesser known composers."

·         "Zurich, sphere of action of famous composers."

·         "The water, a fascinating element for many composers."

The press, as well as the public, praises her magnificent playing, her exceptional sound, as well as her perfect technique.

Formed in 1988, the Geoge Enescu Piano trio consists of Romanian-American and American musicians and has concertized throughout U.S.A., Europe and South America. Enescu Trio has been praised for its "exceptional musicality", "refined phrasing" and "extremely secure technical rendition" of Mozart, Enescu and modern American masterpieces.

This unique group, composed of highly acclaimed international soloists has a large and stilistically diverse repertoire. Their special feature consists in presenting Enescu’s genial masterworks for violin and piano, cello and piano, and piano trio, as well as music by accomplished contemporary Romanian and American composers.

 

Francesco Manara

Violinist

     Born in 1969, Francesco Manara obtained his diploma with top marks and a special mention from Turin's Conservatorio "G.Verdi," where he was under the guidance of Massimo Marin. He then attended advanced courses held by Franco Gulli, Ruggiero Ricci, Stefan Gheorghiu, and Herman Krebbers.
    
     He recieved advanced instruction in the playing of chamber music by F.Gulli and E.Cavallo, along with P.Amoyal and E.Wissenberg, recieving a diploma from the Scuola di Musica da Camera del Trio di Trieste.
    
     He has won numerous competitions, both in Italy and internationally, and has given many concerts in Europe's main cities, as a soloist and chamber musician. He has played as a soloist with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Stuttgarter Süddeutscher Rundfunk Orchester, the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, the Wiener Kammerorchester, the Tokyo Philarmonic, and the Orchestra of Las Scala in Milan, conducted by Riccardo Muti.
