These were pictures for National Geographic and other well known magazines. Many of them provided the pictorial accompaniment to his series of books on gemstones. The colored pictures were fantastic and illustrated a skill beyond the ordinary. In essence, Fred spoke about simplicity and imagination. His photography took him all over the world and into many situations where modern technology was unavailable and success depended on improvisation. His resourcefulness was amazing and provides an excellent example of what can be done on the fly with determination, thought, and skill. He has kept abreast of the state-of-the-art technology in photography, updating his equipment and technique with each progressive improvement. And yet the underlying theme was Уkeep it light; keep it simple.Ф The evening concluded with a montaged retrospective of Fred WardТs personal life journey that was both poignant and humorous.
