Next Board Meeting 

The first Women's Action Coalition Board Meeting for the 2008-2009 program year is scheduled for Thursday, September 11, 2008, 7:00pm - 9:00pm in the Safeway Conference Room Bowie Town Center.  The address is 4101 North View Drive, Bowie, Maryland 20716.  We will begin at 7:00 p.m. and plan to end no later than 9:00 p.m. WAC Member Organizations, please send your delegates to represent your organization.


Critical Issues for  WAC Members

The Member Organizations of the Women’s Action Coalition of Prince George’s County, Maryland, have identified the following issues as most critical for women and girls in our county.  Read the results.


The Women's Action Coalition (WAC) is a network organization in Prince George's County whose goal is to improve the quality of life for women and girls through continual advocacy efforts.  We believe that a united voice gives women the greatest clout.  Our  ultimate goal:  Empower women and girls.

The Women's Action Coalition of Prince George's County was organized in 1975 and continues to:

  • Ensure that the Prince George's County Commission for Women is strong and has adequate resources to address the needs of the women in the county.

  • Cosponsor the Prince George's County Women's Fair.

  • Cosponsor the Women's Legislative Briefing

  • Support the Family Crisis Center, Inc.,  of Prince George's County.

  • Influence public policy to ensure the availably of services that meet the needs of women.

The Women's Action Coalition meets at least four times a year to:

  • Share organizational plans and priorities

  • Review issues and legislative agendas

  • Determine priorities for the year

  • Plan programs

  • Identify topics for action

  • Design and implement strategies for addressing issues of concern

  • Plan meetings with politicians, community leaders, state leaders, and sources of funding.

Priorities are determined on an annual basis by the member organizations.
