The Shadows of Night

"Ellen
Fisher shines in this fast-paced, rousing story…The banter between Hart
and (Katara) at times is laugh-out-loud funny. The secondary characters
add depth and enjoyment to the story as well. I really liked this book
and, as always, Ellen Fisher is a joy to read."

"I
thoroughly enjoyed this thought-provoking novella by award-winning author,
Ellen Fisher. The easy writing style flows from chapter to chapter with
vivid imagery and characterizations. Intertwined with the wonderfully
played out romance between Hart and Katara are subtle lessons
about bigotry and the misuse of technology. This is another great read
from Fisher."

"…An
exciting start to a new series that looks like is going to be a big hit….
It’s a great story… The sexual tension between Hart and Katara is
palpable and the love scenes are deliciously sensual and romantic. Ms
Fisher writes multi-dimensional characters and has done a great job of
giving them the characteristics of the animals they change into. Even
a stag, which is normally a leaf-eater and more shy, can be brave, majestic
and powerful. This reviewer is looking forward to the next in the
series."

"I
became involved from the first page and felt Katara’s initial distrust
and her attraction. Hart displays all the beginnings of an honorable hero
with his compassionate demeanor and his logical thinking. Together they
form a couple with purpose, each complementing the other’s strengths."

Time Romance

"...a
fabulous shifter world, capable of producing a fabulous series. Ms.
Fisher’s descriptions had me feeling as though I was really in the
forest or the city with the characters. Both Hart and Katara are
well-drawn characters that learned a lot about themselves and each other
as the book progressed. Hart is a hero I’d love to meet in real life,
not just in a book, and Katara is a kickass heroine quite capable of
looking after herself, while not being dominant enough to overshadow the
hero. The forbidden love theme was written with an interesting twist with
both being able to shift into two totally different animals. I
highly recommend The Shadows of Night..."

"I
found the Kindred world fascinating and thoroughly enjoyed Ms.
Fisher’s spin on shape-shifters. Hart was a strong and capable character
who was flexible of mind when it came to dealing with Katara and their
differences. I also found Katara’s fight and sass quite appealing…All
in all, I loved the journey of reading Kindred: The Shadows of Night
as the unique shape-shifting storyline grabbed my interest and kept me
turning the pages until the very end."

"I
was very intrigued by the story that Ellen Fisher told...the underlying
story was fascinating. Two people who despise each other because of
suppositions and myths becoming allies against a common enemy. I enjoyed
the rich descriptions in this book and 'saw' the world come to life as I
read….The characters were well-crafted and the hierarchy was
well-developed. I hope that there will be more books set in this world…"
