French Navy Diver's Watch (Prolongeur Demineur) This Tudor Submariner model 94010 was issued to French Navy divers and is engraved "M.N. 82" on the back (Marine Nationale issue date 1982) [click here]. Several years ago a group of these were released by the French government and sold at auction. They were reasonably priced at the time (as were all Tudor subs!) but have since become highly collectable. The dial is a stunning navy blue and in mint condition. The blue bezel insert shows some some typical fading. The case is very clean and has only a few signs of wear. [another view] From a friend's collection and authentic and correct. It was returned to Rolex for service at some point according to the owner and runs well. Comes with a navy blue nylon diver's strap but a Rolex fliplock bracelet is available at a modest extra cost. CONUS sale only (sorry). |

Hamilton 6b The hamilton 6b is believed to be a 50's - 60's issue watch in the MK XI family. Sometimes referred to as the "poor man's MK XI' since it is underpriced in relation to its famous brothers -- the IWC and JLC. It's heritage is seen in the 36mm stainless steel, fixed-bars case, train-track dial with broadarrow and circle-T, and plastic crystal. The movement is a hacking, signed Hamilton 8785 [click here]. The markings on the back [click here] are typical for this piece with a serial number of 3055. A high-quality, collectable issue piece that you just don't see any more. WWII Era Elgin 24hr watch This watch has an Elgin grade 729 18-jewel adjusted movement [click here]. It's housed in a 31mm NOS stepped chrome screw-back, waterproof case [click here]. No, it's not the elusive A-12. Watches such as these were never issued but were made from instrument watches -- like those used in wing cameras to document the action and, hopefully, a kill. Some are found in ordinance cases and some in A-11 cases. But a cool piece nonetheless. Comes with a vintage charcoal grey canvas band. |
