| Now diesel locomotive enthusiasts have prototypical
motive power for their outdoor railroading. With the Wada Works EMD GP9
gas-powered diesel locomotive you can just fuelup, rev-up, and move-out!
With four traction motors this locomotive lives up to the reputation of
its bigger cousins to be able to haul a load!
The Wada Works GP9 is the world's first commercially produced gas-powered locomotive for the gauge-1 railroader. The GP9 uses a time proven glow fuel model airplane/car engine to power a generator to produce its own onboad electricity! This is then transfered to the traction motors through miniature electronic circuitry that can be controlled either manually, or with radio control. Unique in its design, the secret lies behind the starter/generator that is the result of over five years of research and development to produce a motor that was small enough to fit in the body of a 1/32 scale 2nd generation diesel locomotive, and also be strong enough to turn-over a glow engine to get the unit up and running. This remarkable piece of engineering is as amazing in it's design as it is in operation. |
