Garden Railway Project for 2001 - The Juice Train (CSX K650)

Here is a look at the research I've been doing for my 2001 project for our new garden railway.  We live very close (about 400 yards) to the CSX mainline track that runs North and South along the Potomac River.  This is the mainline of the former Richmond, Fredericksburg, & Potomac (RF&P) Railroad.

Four times  a week were are treated to the sight of a string of orange and white regrigerator cars (45 total for the train) making the run from Florida to New Jersey and back.  My project will be to replicate the juice train for our garden railway.  Motive power will be a Wada Works Gas-Electric GP9, with a nose job to make it look more like the CSX CW44-8 9000 or SD-40M-2 that pulls the consist.

These are some shots of the prototype that are currently in service.

The picture to the right corner is the new USA Trains 1/29 (G Scale - closest thing to 1/32 that I'll probably find in my lifetime), that will be painted with the Tropicana logo.  It's not quite accurate for the 50' refers that are used, but it's a longer model than the 40 footers and will look more natural because of its length.
