So now to answer the age old question of "Why a special Cornet Webring? Why not just join a Trumpet Webring".
The answer is simple, to teach people about the difference between a conical and a straight brass instrument. And why this difference is important in many musical experiences. Many of us who play either one or both of these instruments know what the difference is. And there are many out there who don't.
Let's say your a musician. Let's also say you play a trumpet. Now let's say you're new..and the bandmaster just handed out six different parts to the trumpet/cornet section. Three scored for Trumpet and three scored for Cornet. You look over the pieces and you see that there are definate differences in the music. The Cornet parts are filled with beautiful melody phrases, while the Trumpet parts 'herald' and provide the added 'spice' to the piece. You have just discovered why there is a difference between a straight trumpet, and a conical cornet. And how that difference creates a special need for BOTH instruments in many pieces of band music.
The other reason is to help parents who do not have a music background decide on what is the best purchase/rental for their child. Many people think that for a student, it doesn't matter. But there are those of us who through experience with both instruments, disagree; and wish to see a young musician who is interested in playing trumpet or cornet get off on the right foot and pick a horn that is right for them!
Now through the power of the internet, learn more through our members websites about the difference between the two instruments, and how you....as a musician, can master both and add to your enjoyment of High Brass!
