What are the partners’ responsibilities?  purplegoose.jpg (24817 bytes)

The GeesePeace in Fairfax County Project is a relatively short term commitment.

The GeesePeace partners will be responsible for:

  • Finding the nests on the properties for which they take responsibility,
  • Identifying the nest location on maps or using GPSS, forwarding information on the nest sites, either through the internet or in hard copy, to the GeesePeace in Fairfax office,
  • Helping trained addlers locate the nest sites and accompany them to the sites if necessary, and
  • Completing follow-up documentation of the project as required by Fish and Wildlife Service permit (addling eggs of Canada geese requires a federal permit).

Geese will begin looking for nest sites in late February and early March, and we expect the addling process to begin in mid-March and continue through mid-April.
