A native of Freeport, Texas,
Pastor Jody Jessup calls herself a “gypsy.” After her twenty-seven year career
in the Air Force and Air National Guard, and younger life as a “preacher’s kid”
she says she attended twelve schools in twelve years! She served military
tours in Texas, South
Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia,
and England, and short tours
in Egypt, Germany, and
various other locations. She says she retired because Maryland is as far north as a Texan can
survive!
Jody earned a bachelors degree in Business
Management from the University of South Carolina, a masters in Human Resource
Management from Golden Gate University, and has completed the Master of
Divinity program at Wesley Theological Seminary.
Jody has lived in Maryland since 1994 when she was assigned to
Andrews Air Force Base. Just eight months later, she was diagnosed with
an aggressive form of cancer. This
trying time brought both her and her husband closer to the Lord in their daily
lives. Both will tell you that they believe God healed her from a form of
cancer that carries a poor prognosis. But Jody has been cancer free since
2000 when she completed treatment and she gives the glory to God.
Jody is married to Benny Jessup. They have two sons and a daughter, Clint,
Rob, and Kelly, and five grandchildren, Nick, Kaleb,
Megan, Madison, and Olivia.
