Eight Brocades Qigong, an easy set of "WaiDan" qigong exercises for health
and fitness. Level 1 students: Standing Eight Brocades, a major
focus of level 1, is covered in the last half of both the book and video.
Though you are learning more details in class than are covered in the book
and video, they can help you review movements from week to week.
There
are no highly recommended items for level 2. However, the following
material may be of some use:
Opening
The Energy Gates of Your Body (book) - clear illustrations and
well-written text explain the basic principles behind Qigong and Tai Chi.
Great information on body structure in the energy arts. Level 2 students:
a variation of Constant Bear Qigong, called "The First Swing" by the author,
is in this book. In addition, there is a good explanation of the mechanics
of joints, including the knees, which are a major focus in level 2.
