Anticancer Qigong

" Open the windows, let some fresh air in,

it is stuffy here!"

This is the principle of Anticancer Qigong Therapy. Opening the windows are the heart mind body and spirit of our being, letting every cells in our body bath in the fresh Qi of vitality. As we stuffed ourselves with suppression, anxiety, food, literally stuffing ourselves to the brink of death. When the cells in our body and our immune system can no longer cope with the congestion. The mutated cells blossoms like a revolution of the proletarian, the underprivileged class. Those cells have adapted evolved into anaerobic cells that does need oxygen.

So open the windows of yourself and let the freshness of Qi into your organs, cells and brain. And let the stuffiness out of you.

" We join spokes together in a wheel,

but it is the center hole

that makes the wagon move.

We shape clay into a pot

But it is the emptiness inside

That holds whatever we want.

We hammer wood for a house

But it is the inner space

That makes it livable."

---Tao Te Ching

So what is Qi?

To answer that we have to dig deep into ancient Taoist text. They write the earliest form of the character of Qi as heat without fire.

And from the earliest medical text that says that " Blood is the mother of Qi while Qi is the commander of blood."

So when a patient suffer tremendous blood loss, she will develop Qi deficiency. Because when the mother suffers the Qi will not able to be nourish.

This Qi deficient is very easily diagnose in one’s tongue. The tongue become swollen and the edges have serrated marks. Tongue of Qi depletion swollen and fat, with thick moss.

From the different evidence of the properties of Qi:

Heat without fire,

commanding blood.

Qi is the function and metabolism of the our organs, interactive communication between the different systems as well as the basic unit of energy of our body and mind.

For example, indigestion is consider as lack of spleen Qi.

Hypo-endocrine function is consider as kidney Qi deficient.

Aid then is considered as immune Qi deficiency.

The Anticancer Qigong Therapy Healing Walk or I will abridge it as Wind Walk was develop with invigorating our own spontaneous healing system. To jump start the stalled engine of life. It was discovered and created by Master Guo Lin out of her own suffering and sorrow.

The following is her biography:

The use of Qigong cancer treatment in China originated with Ms. Guo Lin, a Chinese traditional painter, mentioned above. In 1949, she was afflicted with uterine cancer and had it removed by surgery in Shanghai. The cancer recurred in 1960. This time it had metastasized to the bladder, and she had another operation in Beijing to remove part of the bladder that was cancerous. When she had another relapse, the doctors gave her six months to live. However, she did not give up hope, and in her struggle against cancer, she remembered that her grandfather, a Taoist priest, had taught her as a child to practice Qigong. She determinedly began to research and practice Qigong, hoping to recover her health in this way. After initial practice with no effect, she turned to the ancient Qigong texts willed to her by her grandfather and created her own exercise schedule. She practiced diligently for two hours every day, and in half a year her cancer subsided. She was strongly convinced of Qigong's ability to cure diseases, and in 1970 started giving lessons in what she called New Qigong Therapy. According to Cyrus Lee, Master Guo's therapy is not based on the external energy (wei chi) of others, but upon the inner energy (nei chi) of the patient (for these distinctions, review chapter 1, "Special Section on Chi"). Her therapy combines "active and passive exercises in three stages: relaxation (sung jing), concentration (yi lian), and breathing (tiao hsi)."2

By 1977 Master Quo had achieved spectacular results and pro-claimed publicly that Qigong can cure cancer. Cancer victims from all over immediately streamed into Beijing to take part in the Qigong cancer therapy class she had organized. Each day three hundred to four hundred people studied Qigong techniques for cancer treatment with her. Until her death in 1984 she worked tirelessly, curing hundreds of cancer patients, while easing the pain and prolonging the lives of thousands more. Mrs. Wong Chung-siu, a student of Guo Lin's currently living in Fremont, California, told Paul Dong that Guo Lin's pinnacle of success came in 1982. Aided by nine assistants she had trained, Guo Lin held nine cancer classes of seventy students each, meeting three times a day. With her nine assistants to help her, she was able over the next two years to travel all over China to twenty provincial capitals to teach and lecture at the request of many local health care and medical departments, and she became a national celebrity before her death in 1984 (twenty years after her life had been given up by Western medicine).

The basic principle of Wind Healing Walk

  1. Deep and forceful breathing. two inhale one exhale. From the Taoist idea of taking in more Qi and releasing less to nourish the Qi depletion.
  2. Brisk walk to increase the blood circulation to generate more Qi.
  3. Healing sound of high pitch to combat the tumor from spreading and using the sound waves to break down the tumor’s barrier in order for the immune Qi to infiltrate and attack them.
  4. To inspire the cancer patient spirit of hope and joyousness. Changing from victim to master of one’s destiny. ( I feel that this is the most crucial of all the four points.)
My own limited experiences with various success and less success.

This Anti-cancer Qigong is what I have learned in China and also based on my own practice. I have worked with several patience with various level of success, there is no failure here. Because my goal is not just survival at all cost but rather improving the qualities of the patients’ life and the depth of their own discovery through their sickness.

I have gotten some preliminary data from the cases:

  1. Pain management—in all of the cases, the Wind Walk helps them to be relieved of the excruciating pain of late stage cancer. The pain can be reduced and even totally disappear during the Walk and hours afterward.
  2. A profound sense of empowerment of awakening of life and death. The cancer no longer become a sickness but rather a deep meditation or journey of self discovery of truth.
  3. All reported improved reaction to the effects of medical radical medical treatment of chemotherapy, a reduction of nauseate, improve appetite.
  4. For western students the discipline of daily practice is a challenge and the willingness to be healed and be healthy also becomes an issue.
All of them were treated with the Western medicine and the Anti-cancer served as complimentary therapy to their chemo-therapy, or radiation therapy and surgery.

The message here is one of self empowerment and also awakening to the preciousness of this very moment, not future goals nor projection of success.
