Does the news in your paper and on television each day

Make you wish that the violence would just - go away?

Do you and your neighbors increasingly fear

That the reality of violence may be alarmingly near?

Do you feel alone - unable to act

Sure that your voice would have no impact?

Well, listen, our friends, and you will hear

Of a church in Columbia that is about to appear

With a message of hope

Rather than of anger or fear.

Our children - their parents - the toys they buy

Can be a part of the answer to this community cry.

Cooperative play, shared joy and delight,

Games played as a team - won't encourage us to fight.

Let's offer a choice - a "new, improved model"

For children (and old folks!) to play, rather than squabble.

It's one piece of the bridge that we all need to build

To move from fear and frustration to a community filled

With a renewed spirit of hope, of concern for each other.

We can work together to care for each sister and brother.
