The goal is positive personality growth and helping the individual to work through roadblocks which keep him or her from being the unique person God intended him or her to be. EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) is one kind of therapy which quickly can often work through such roadblocks. Cognitive behavior therapy can help someone with depression, anxiety, and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Dr. Cole also has specific training in helping people with compulsive hair-pulling (trichotillomania) and in helping people with sexual addiction. Individual therapy can develop problem solving and coping skills. It is useful in the treatment of: Psychological Evaluations uncover deep-rooted personality and learning problems. Career assessments can help you find direction and fulfillment.

Group therapy is helpful in developing interpersonal skills and in the treatment of: Child psychotherapy is an area for which Dr. Cole has been trained. With play therapy, she is able to help a child uncover and work through problems which could otherwise damage the child's personality in later years. This form of therapy is useful for children in stable and supportive home environments. The family is consulted on a regular basis and the school is often consulted to gain further insight and cooperation in the treatment of the child. In cases where family difficulties are impacting the child, family therapy is often helpful.

Family Therapy can help all the members of the family live together with more harmony. Family therapy can restore hope and intimacy. Destructive patterns can be broken and new ways of relating can replace them. Parenting skills can help parents meet children's needs to respect limits as well as to feel loved. Therapy often addresses personality differences, family of origin backgrounds, spiritual resources communication patterns, unmet expectations, obstacles to achieving goals, and power struggles.

Premarital Counseling allows couples who are engaged or who are considering engagement to explore their relationship with a trained professional. Couples are encouraged to discuss the strengths and weadnesses of their relationship. Dr. Cole can provide strategies for building the relationship and for resolving disagreements. Counseling focuses on the enhancement of the couple's communication and on making unconscious needs and desires more conscious.

Marriage Counseling can help rekindle love and build a better quality of life for all family members. Often couples experience disillusionment and can become 'stuck' in marital conflict. Evaluation and counseling of marriage partners is often helpful in looking at the unique temperaments and strengths of each partner.

What about Payment?
Most clients find that their health insurance will reimburse a portion of the cost. However, the issue of reimbursement is between you and your insurance company. Dr. Cole does not accept insurance. Her services are not "mangled" by being on managed care plans or insurance plans.
