BORDERLINE: 1999
6 boards, 6 feet tall, enamel on wood , leaned up against the wall
This work was inspired by the contemporary Byzantine funeral memorials found on the mountain roads in Greece where accidents have occurred. I traveled this road on a trip to visit my grandparents' birth place.
With the outbreak of the Kosova war, and because of the funereal theme of the work, it shifted from a personal memory to a social critique of contemporary warfare.
It was shown at Postmasters in Chelsea, New York City in 1999.
