***Lloyd Donald Young***
Lloyd was born in Kingston, Jamaica on November 23. 1953 and was the 3rd of eight children on his mother's side and the 4th on his father's side. He lived an uneventful early childhood and attended St. Aloysius Boys School. After completing high school, Lloyd began a work history as well as a history of alcohol and substance abuse (I.e. alcohol, cocaine, heroin, PCP). Because Lloyd was musically inclined and followed the band routes with friends throughout Europe - Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Italy and France, he had many occasions to continue his drug abuse.
Lloyd eventually returned to Jamaica, married and migrated to the United States. His substance abuse caused havoc not only with his marriage but also with his employment opportunities.
In looking back over his life, Lloyd has concluded that "abandonment by my mother and father at age 7, and my mental and physical abuse by my caretaker who was alcoholic, contributed to many of the problems I experienced with addiction including the problem of homelessness.
Lloyd's homelessness eventually led him to CCNV where he not only recovered from his addiction but attended culinary school. This training and his newly founded religious beliefs, have placed a smile on his face when he says " Today I have a real good job working as a prep cook at the Palomino Restaurant at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center and, thanks to God, am drug free."
Lloyd is making plans to leave CCNV shortly.
