(addressed to a constituent)

Dear xxxxxxxxxxx

Thank you for your recent letter regarding the Western Transportation Corridor Study.

I have been in contact with the Federal Highway Administration, the Virginia Department of Transportation, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regarding your concerns.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers advises that the Norfolk District has provided the VDOT with written comments and has identified a number of concerns.

The EPA states that "from review of the information available at this time it appears hat Corridor 4 presents several serious constraints that may be difficult to resolve." The EPA also advises that it will be making certain recommendations to the VDOT regarding the importance of the Lake Manassas water supply.

The Commonwealth Transportation Board is responsible for final selection of corridors for further evaluation. Therefore, I would suggest that you continue to contact your local and state elected officials regarding your concerns.

It was a pleasure to make these inquires on you behalf and I assure you that I will continue to monitor the progress of the study and its effects on this historical and beautiful part of our state.

Sincerely,

Charles S. Robb
