Obituary of Roger C. Carpenter

Roger C. Carpenter died at his home, northwest of Bartley, Tuesday (March 5, 1996), at age 53. He was born March 23, 1942 at Bartley to Thomas and Frances (Lohr) Carpenter. He spent his entire life at Bartley and graduated with the class of 1960 from Bartley High School.
On June 30, 1963, he was untied in marriage to Loretta Moore at the Bartley Christian Church. To this union, two children were born, Dawn LaRae and Tom.
He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, an aunt and many uncles.
Surviving him are his wife, Loretta; his mother, Frances; a daughter, Dawn LaRae and her husband, Stewart Sikes, of York; a son, Tom and his wife, Julie; four grandchildren, Garett, Andrew, Danielle, and Colten; a brother, Wayne Carpenter of North Platte, a sister, Elva Fesler of Lincoln; and a niece, Kimberly Carpenter of North Platte.
As a young man, Roger was baptized at the Bartley Christian Church and served for many years as a deacon and a member of the church board. He also served on the following boards: Village of Bartley, the Bartley School District No. 70, and the Bartley Village Equity Exchange.
Roger was known for his friendly, happy disposition and his loving smile. He dearly loved his family and grandchildren and had a special place in his heart for the children who came to the Carpenter home for daycare.
Services were held Saturday, March 9 at 2 p.m. at the Bartley Christian Church in Bartley with Roy Hart, Jr. and the Rev. Max Kelley officiating. Internment was in the Bartley Cemetery.
