Obituary 07/06/2005 - Helen Ann [sic] Darby Helen Ann Darby, 100, of North Platte, died July 3, 2005, at Centennial Park Retirement Village. She was born Oct. 16, 1904, to Lawrence and Elizabeth Neuhart Rueter near Carleton in Thayer County. In 1910, her family moved to a farm near Wauneta in Chase County.
She was the oldest of nine children, Carl, Frank, Olga, Carolyn, Lawrence, Hattie, Alvin and Lucille.
On June 4, 1930, she married Lee Lawrence Darby in Imperial. They resided in Trenton, where their son, Rue Lee was born Aug. 9, 1935. Lee died Jan. 14, 1954.
On Jan. 1, 1964, she moved to North Platte where she was employed for 10 years before retiring as office manager and assistant to Dr. Melvin S. Hoyt. Mrs. Darby was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Chapter GO of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, DOES and other organizations. She was also a volunteer at the hospital for many years, starting in 1975.
Survivors include two sisters, Hattie Rosetti of Ocean Pines, Md., and Lucille Lee of Lancaster, Va.; a brother, Lawrence Rueter of Bozeman, Mont.; granddaughter, Dorinda (Dave) Hansjosten of Loveland, Colo.; a grandson, Brian (Becky) Sutton of Grand Blanc, Mich.; five great-grandchildren, Dan and Derek Hansjosten of Loveland, and Elizabeth, Amanda and Austin Sutton of Grand Blanc; and former daughter-in-law, Mary (Chuck) Hill of Loveland. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rue Oct. 7, 1975; two sisters, Olga McBride and Carolyn Davis, and three brothers, Carl, Frank, and Alvin Rueter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be given to the donor's choice. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Adams & Swanson Chapel in North Platte with the Rev. James Hawley officiating. Inurnment will be in the Trenton Cemetery in Trenton. Those wishing to sign the register book may do so from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte.
