Tenor Jon Lackey is well recognized as one of the world's leading interpreters of the French Melodie and the German Lied and has been highly acclaimed by international music critics for his solo concert, oratorio and opera appearances. Mr. Lackey has had the rare distinction of residing with the Richard Strauss family in Munich, Germany, and was under their gracious patronage while concertizing and mastering the art of bel canto.
Mr. Lackey has sung on several occasions at the White House for Presidents Carter and Reagan. His many orchestral appearances have included concert and oratorio performances with the Orchestre de Bourdeaux, members of the National Symphony Orchestra, the Washington Bach Consort, the Annapolis Symphony, the Williamsburg Symphonia, the Arlington Symphony, the Springfield Symphony, and the U.S. Air Force Symphony Orchestra in Washington, DC. As a member of the U.S. Armed Forces, Mr. Lackey served as tenor soloist with the U.S. Air Force Band and the Singing Sergeants in Washington, DC, performing over 750 concerts internationally.
Mr. Lackey starred in the leading role of the world opera premier, Miracle of the Nativity, by Edmund Pendelton in Paris, France. Several of Mr. Lackey's recitals in France and the United Kingdom have been broadcast live by the BBC and Radio France. He has had American concerts broadcast by PBS and classical radio station WGMS in Washington, DC. He has taught on the faculties of Pacific Lutheran University and the American College in Paris and continues to give private coaching.
In addition to his performance career, Mr. Lackey is the vice-president and co-owner of an internationally recognized talent agency, Black Tie Arts Management. Established in 1986, this agency represents over 800 classical and popular performing artists and organizes performances for Fortune 500 companies, performing arts centers, U.S. Government agencies and foreign embassies, as well as private affairs. Mr. Lackey currently resides in Falls Church, Virginia and continues an active performance schedule.
