James Jelasic

Pianist and Fulbright Scholar, James Jelasic is undoubtedly one of the finest piano accompanists in the world today. He has been regularly engaged internationally in performances as a piano recitalist and chamber music collaborator and has soloed with several symphony orchestras, including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. His concert tours with the internationally acclaimed tenor, Jon Lackey, have been broadcast in England on the BBC, in France on Radio France and throughout the United States on PBS and WGMS.

Mr. Jelasic graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the Eastern Michigan University in 1980 and a Master of Music degree in Accompanying and Chamber Music from the University of Michigan in Ann Harbor in 1982. He subsequently apprenticed as a vocal coach/accompanist with the Michigan Opera Theater in Detroit Michigan.

In 1986, Mr. Jelasic co-founded Black Tie Arts Management, in Washington, DC, an international talent agency with over 800 classical and popular performing artists on its roster. His company manages talent for concerts and special events for such clientele as the White House, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, U.S. Government agencies, foreign embassies, corporations, and private affairs.
