Erol's Internet was purchased by RCN in late 1998.  In a few months, service deteriorated from excellent to awful.  Under RCN management, Erol's Internet can't even seem to reliably route packets within their own network, and their connections to other Internet backbone sites appear to be unreliable as well. Customer "service" is abysmal.

Note the high return trip time and packet loss within RCN; deteriorating RTT and packet loss beyond that point is symptomatic of RCN's problems. The display above was produced by "Ping Plotter".
