DETECT A LIGHT
One problem often experienced Model A owners is leaving
the headlights on after turning off the engine. Such a mistake often happens during
the day or in a well lighted area. The Detect a Light is a period aftermarket
accessory to let the drive know the headlights are on.
The Detect A Light shown below is provided by
Mr. John Brady, a Model A owner from Maryland and a regular contributor to Dale's Model A
Bulletin Board.
The Detect A Light units fits into the headlight housings.
At first glance, the units looks like headlight visors, which are a popular
reproduction part for model As. However, mounting the Detect A Light is much smaller
than a headlight visor. In the center of the mounting pice is a bulbous housing.
Stamped on the unit are the words "Detect A Light" and "Warren,
Rhoad Island"

On the rear of the housing, facing the driver, is a cutout that resembles the Mobiloil Flying Pegasus. A red lense in the cutout lets light from the headlight shine through to inform the driver when the lights are on.
