MORE CLOCKS
Other manufacturers of aftermarket clocks for early
automobiles included the Mansfield Motor Clocks of New York and New Haven Clocks of New
Haven, Connecticut. Ford also manufactured clocks for sale in their dealerships.
The following pictures are provided by Mr. Jim Lindberg, a Model A owner and accessory
collector from Minnesota.
The first photograph shows a clockmirror made by New Haven in its original box.

Another more elegant looking clockmirror made by New haven is shown below. The
face of the clock has Roman numerals.
|
The photograph below shows a close up of the dial face with the Roman numerals.
|
Below is a stringwind mirrorclock offered by Ford. the uni8t shown below is believed
to have been sold during the time of the early V8 Fords, however, these clocks have been
seen used on many Model A Fords.
|
The frame of the clock below mounts to the header similar to the early Westclox header
clock. However, instead of being an integral unit, the frame opens up to accept a
standard pocket watch.
|
The photo below shows the frame opened and the pocket watch removed.
Another holder for a pocket watch is shown below in its original box and with the original
mounting instructions. Made by Simplex, the holder clipped to the spoke of the
steering wheel and allows the pocket watch to be held right to the wheel.
|
In addition to the oil pressure and water temperature gauges they are known for, APCO also manufactured a clock for the Model A Ford. Shown below is one of the clocks with the APCO name on the face. The clock mounted under the steering wheel in one of the single or dual gauge holders used to mount the oil pressure and water temperature gauges.
