AERMORE HORN
A popular accessory for the Model A Ford was the Aermore
Exhaust Horn. The Aermore Manufacturing Company of chicago, Illinois received a
patent in 1912 for an exhaust operated horn with multiple tubes that played a chord like a
church organ.
A valve on the horn was mounted between the
outlet of the exhaust manifold and the exhaust downpipe through which the exhaust gases
were channeled through a series of tuned brass tubes. A cable attached between the
valve and the driver compartment was used to open the vale and sound the whistle.
The photo below shows a restored Aermore Exhaust Whistle made by Fulton for the Model A
Ford.

The next photo shows a close up of the valve
assembly that is attached onto the exhaust manifold. Also shown in the
picture is the lever action that activates the valve when an attached cable is pulled.
While the brass tubes are relatively easy to find and can often be cleaned uo very
well. However, it is a horn with the correct valve attached or finding the valve
itsekf can be very difficult.

The photo below shows the the end of the tube that includes the manufacturers information.
