Christmas in April

CHRISTMAS IN APRIL is a program which refurbishes homes owned by the poor, elderly or the disabled in the country.  The nationwide event is always done on the last Saturday in April.  The Church of the Ascension has sponsored a house each year for approximately 10 years.

Christmas in April will take place on April 28th, 2007. The Christmas in April committee will have to inspect 80 homes and of those 80 select only 20.

There will be plenty of work to be done again. If you wish to be involved with the collection of potential recipients, or the selection of the house, if you would like to volunteer your services, or would like to nominate a home for consideration, please contact Jess Davis via the church office at 301-863-8551.

The last Christmas in April was held on Saturday, April 29, 2006.  The Church of the Ascension, helped to renovate a home with a new circuit breaker panel, new soffits, vinyl flooring, a new hand-crafted pantry, new kitchen faucet, yard work, a new bedroom ceiling and floor, and of course, painting.

Again, the ECW ladies provided us with an outstanding luncheon.  Thanks also to all those who volunteered. There were so many folks that I just couldn't list them all.   See you again next year...
