"MARYLAND ONE CHURCH - ONE ADDICT"
(MOCOA)
The purpose of MOCOA
is to mobilize and equip faith communities to prevent recovering addicts from
relapsing into substance abuse. The church works with the Walden Counseling Center to bring the "Maryland
One Church - One Addict" program to St. Mary's County. Gary Lynch of the
Walden Counseling Center will be our MOCOA trainer. The training will address
several issues such as definition of addictions, attitudes of addictions,
signs, symptoms, and stages of addictions, the recovery process and case
study. The training will help the participating church members develop
a congregational team ministry, help them gain an understanding of alcohol
and other drug addictions, and help them support the recovery process.
The program asks for a team of four to six people to be teamed up with
one addict, to love and support him/her. If this ministry interests you
be sure to call the church office at 301-863-8551.
