Church of the Ascension Mission Statement

 

"The mission of the Church of the Ascension is to respond to God's Love for us through Jesus Christ."

 

We do this by joining together for:

    Worship in the Anglican tradition;
    Prayer; Study of Holy Scripture;
    Social Outreach; Pastoral Care;
    Christian Education; and our
    Music Ministry.

Our Motto is: "All are Welcome Here."


This expresses Christ's invitation, "Come unto me all you who are tired and heavy laden and I will refresh you."

 

Our "4x4 Plan" guides our ministry:

  • Build up and nurture the congregation

  • Expand and strengthen Christian Education

  • Strengthen Participation in Social Outreach

  • Continue the renovation of church property

  • Develop plans/programs that support growth and the existing congregation.

  • Expand Christian Education.

  •  Follow up with programs for Newcomers

  • Assess community needs and create new initiatives.

  • Continue to expand opportunities for youth to participate in the Life of the Church.

  • Expand the offering of Adult Education  

  • Encourage more participation in Adult Education.

  • Encourage youth in the life of the church.

  • Establish Newcomer/Greeter programs. 

  •  Expand Social Outreach  program to include community college and a  mother  - preschool program.

  • Establish disaster relief program.

  • Evaluate existing programs

  • Continue  Newcomer program.

  • Evaluate existing programs

  • Assess community needs and create new initiatives.

  • Engineering assessment for code compliance.

  • Establish a Building Fund for major renovations.

  • Contract for a sprinkler system.

  • Adjust Essex House financial plan to become Long Term and self-sustaining.

  • Contract for Code compliance upgrades.

  • Renovate church to support  church usage and growth.

  • Columbarium

  • Continue to track investments for renovation and repairs.

  • Building and grounds including Essex house.

  • Meet current applicable codes.

  • Self-sustaining resources for major renovation and repairs.

  • Support growth
