H.O.P.E.
HOPE stands for Helpers Overcoming Problems Effectively. HOPE
is a nonprofit, incorporated organization that coordinates requests
for assistance for those in St. Mary's County who have emergency needs
they are unable to meet. Church of the Ascension provides an office for
H.O.P.E. for their "hot line", provides volunteers to answer the hot line,
and provides assistance and advice to the H.O.P.E. Board of Directors.
H.O.P.E. is severely understaffed
at this time and is in great need of volunteers, both male
and female. Volunteers help to answer phones, do client intakes, and help
in the food pantry. Volunteers typically work one or two days a week
(or per month, or whatever you can spare).
Food Pantry workers are
especially needed. Both H.O.P.E. and the food pantry
are closed on Fridays due to the shortage of volunteers. If you have
some free time and would like to do something for your community, please
consider working for H.O.P.E.
Give Debbie a call at
301-737-2870
between 9 AM and 12, Monday through Thursday. Debbie will provide
all training necessary for you to work in the office or the food pantry.
Thank you in advance.
