SUNDAY MORNING ACTIVITIES
FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH

MISSION

Our mission for the Christian Education of our children and youth is to provide:

  • an educational environment that promotes the love of Jesus Christ, a feeling of joy and an atmosphere of belonging.

  • the basics of the Christian faith in the Episcopal tradition.

  • a strong Bible-based curriculum.

  • a joyous opportunity for the parish to fulfill our responsibilities of the vow made at each baptism to do all in our power to support our children and youth in their life in Christ Jesus.

  • an excitement for living with the love of Jesus Christ.

  • SUNDAY SCHOOL

Sunday School membership is open to ages 3 to 13 in grades Pre-K through 5th. The “gathering” will again be from 10:15 to 10:30 and will emphasize music and hymns. Sunday School classes will begin at 10:30 and will end, around 11:15, with students joining their families in the worship service for the celebration of the Eucharist. For Morning Prayer services, students will remain in Sunday School until the worship service has ended.

The Kindergarten and elementary classes will be using a Common Core of Bible Stories and the Lore of our Faith. Pre-K (ages 3-4) use other materials emphasizing the Fruits of the Spirit and familiar Bible stories. Middle Schoolers will focus on Bible study and applying the lessons to real life situations.

Sunday School began on September 5th, 2004.  All children are welcome to attend and all parents are most cordially invited to participate as Christian educators. Please contact Dana Davis and Carol Miller via the church office at 301-863-8551 for additional information.

“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”

    Galatians 5:22-23
