| Johann Springer's, Erban, Wien (Vienna), Austria, 12 Bore "Best Quality" Sidelock Ejector sporting gun. One of the finest examples of high grade European craftsmanship we have encountered. Factory records/correspondance (hard copy available) state: "Your gun was started to be made on the 28th May 1921 and was finished nearly 1 year later. It is the model PC 40 with Holland & Holland sidelocks, which means highest quality and highest price. It was made for Count Adam Potocki from Poland. It is the No. 1 of a pair." This Best Quality sporting gun was "English Proof" tested during August 1999. The Proof "Certificate" signed by the Proof Master of the Birmingham House (suitable for framing)is included. This shotgun has been disassembled, cleaned, assembled and adjusted by a leading English Gunmaker; in addition, the barrels & trigger guard were reblued. The original scroll and leaf engraving has been "cleaned up" and detailed by a well known English engraver; plus, the woodwork has been refinished and the fine line checkering re-cut. This high grade "Best Quality" 12 bore, 2 3/4" chamber sporting gun with ejectors has an articulated front trigger, 28 1/2" barrels choked IM/IM. Weight is 6 lb. 15 Oz. The sidelocks, action and trigger guard have full coverage medium relief acanthus-leaf and scroll engraving with the barrel breech area scroll highlighted. The nicely figured stock measures 14 1/2" LOP, 1 3/8" drop at comb with a 1 7/8" drop at heel; stock is fitted with an oval engraved with a "U" and a crown sportng seven (7) stars indicating prominence and upper nobility statute of owner. Simply a superior grade and condition sporting gun.
