About This Website

Purpose
This site was created by Justin Antos in December, 2001 for Italian Studies 101: Dante in English Translation at Brown University, Providence, RI.  It constitutes the final project for the course.

Audience
This site is intended for students looking for information on Dante's Divine Comedy, specifically about the theological, historical, and literary role of Virgil in the poem.  Whether students are looking for specific information for a research paper or not, this site is designed to help them.  In addition to students, however, the site is also geared to any web surfer looking for general information about Dante and/or Virgil.  The content of the site goes quickly from basic facts to more in-depth insights and abstractions, to appeal to a wide range.
