Special Town Meeting on the Georgetown University Campus Plan

The University Campus Plan is the blueprint for on-campus development for the next 10 years. At this ANC meeting, the University will describe its plan, members of the community will have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments, and the ANC will vote on its position(s) on the campus plan, which must be given great weight in DC Government deliberations.

To allow everyone an opportunity to speak, discussion will be limited!

The Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA) will hold public hearings on the campus plan on June 13 and July 18; for more information on their hearings, call the Office of Zoning at 727-6311.

Order of Business

7:00Georgetown University presentation. Includes a statement by MedStar (John Green) and time for questions of fact (not of opinion).
7:30Citizens Association comment. Time limit 5 minutes per group.
Representatives of the community groups who have been involved in the process so far (preferably not Commissioners) will give a brief statement on what they like and don't like about the plan. The primary reason to do this is to try to get all the major issues on the floor as clearly and efficiently as possible.
8:00Community members (individuals) comment or ask questions. Time limit 2 minutes.
Limited follow-ups are allowed, but not back-and-forth arguments.
8:45University response to comments.
9:00Proposals by Commissioners (motions). Duration: 30 minutes.
The voting will, as usual, consist of a motion, second, discussion, vote. How long we take depends on how many motions we have and how much we discuss them.
9:30Adjourn.

Note that by Article V, Section 7 of our Bylaws (also Robert's Rules p. 92-93), for a special meeting “The purpose of the meeting must be stated in the request and no other topic may be acted upon at that meeting.” Our actions should be limited to issues directly relevant to the campus plan.
