Assisted Living/Rest Homes

For those of you who work either in Rest Homes or in Assisted Living Facilities, you probably do
not always find yourself having to deal with full thickness Pressure Ulcers. While pressure ulcers
are something that no one wants to have occur while a patient is under their care, sometimes they
do happen. You may also find that because of your Licensing that you may not be able to take
care of the more Medically involved patients. What I would encourage you to do is to gain as
much knowledge as you can by visiting our CASE MANAGERS site and our CURRENT CONCEPTS IN WOUND CARE Forum page as well as our page on the Medicare Coverage Criteria and recognize that by utilizing one
of our Specialty Beds, that may typically be found in the HOME CARE Market, or even one of
the products that you would expect to see in one of the SKILLED NURSING FACILITIES, coupled with
the expertise that can be obtained from a Wound Care Specialist or a qualified Nurse at a Home
Health Agency, you may be able to very effectively manage that resident and not lose them, and
the income that they represent, to a more Acute Care Facility.
Even if your residents have been treated at another type of facility for their wounds, if you are not
aware of your ability to continue to provide coverage for a Specialty Support Surface, then that
resident will quit possibly have a recurrence of the wound that delayed their return to you in the
first place. By utilizing the services of AIR SUPPORT THERAPIES and a qualified Home Health
Agency you should be well positioned to continue to provide for your residents who are moving
along the healing process.
After you have visited all of our resources, please be certain to register at our Guest Book and let
us know who you are and how we may be able to assist you incaring for your residents.
