Adolfo Abalos

Adolfo was born in Buenos Aires on the 14th of August 1914, on the same street where Anibal Troilo (grand master of the bandoneon) and Enrique Villegas (an excellent jazz pianist) were born. At the age of one his parents returned to Santiago del Estero. Adolfo studied pharmacy and biochemistry in the University of Tucuman, but music was always his natural dedication and obsession. He joined Machingo in Buenos Aires in 1938, where he introduced into the city night chacareras, zambas and gatos played on the piano. He composed many of the well known works of the Hermanos Abalos along with his so called, 'Famous Tangos that Nobody Knows'. From his first marriage, Adolfo has a son and daughter, Adolfo and Maria Beatriz and two grandsons and a great grandaughter now residing in the US. He is presently married to Nancy Gordillo, now a dancer with the group. They have four children; Nancy, Marina, Amilcar Adolfo and Giselle, and two grandchildren. Adolfo plays the piano and creates some of the group's technical arrangements. He was recently proclaimed 'Illustrious Citizen of Mar del Plata' by the city of Mar del Plata.
